My name is Tom, I have spent the last decade and change in a combination of operations and marketing roles.  Over that time, I have worked with companies large and small to help design better operating systems during periods of growth.  Now, I want to bring that experience to others.

I got my start working at a small marketing agency, then stepped up to a big one. I went from no structure, to tons of it, and the difference was obvious. I learned about how small, scrappy teams can communicate on totally different cadences, but big teams need more consistency and predictability. More on that int he blog.

After that, I was first hire at an education research philanthropy called foundry10. During that time I led both our operations and marketing teams. Building structures that worked was my primary objective, and I made plenty of mistakes (which, luckily, you can learn from).

In my spare time, I like hiking, yard work, video games, and writing. You’ll see all 4 make an appearance here.

Thanks for being here.

Philosophy

This blog is about three things: structure, scale, and change. These three are in a constant balance, and this blog is to help professionals figure out how to manage it all.
